Laura Loveday, of Rancho Mirage, California, passed away Dec. 16, 2014, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Laura was a retired senior advertising executive and had spent almost 30 years in advertising and marketing prior to moving to Rancho Mirage in 2006. Laura was born in New York City and was raised in Westchester County, New York where she excelled in academics, sports, and began her life-long love affair with cats and dogs. She graduated with a B.A. in Art History from SUNY Fredonia, New York. After college Laura followed in her father's footsteps and began working in the advertising business. In the mid-1970s she left Ogilvy and Mather and moved to San Francisco and worked in strategic planning departments for Fortune 500 companies. In the 1980s Laura returned to advertising after being recruited by J. Walter Thompson. In the 1990s Laura moved to Los Angeles after being recruited by McCann-Erickson to build and manage a research and strategic planning department. While at McCann-Erickson, Laura won five national EFFIE awards from the American Marketing Association for advertising effectiveness. Over the course of ten years at McCann, Laura helped bring in new accounts and develop an effective and vital research and strategic planning department. Upon retirement, Laura became involved with Gilda's Club Desert Cities. Gilda's Club is a national nonprofit cancer support organization. In January 2010 Laura was elected to their Board of Directors due to her long and successful advertising and marketing career. Laura was an avid reader and a passionate World War II amateur historian. She loved to travel and was fortunate enough to see many parts of the globe. Laura leaves a family of friends and her beloved dog Zoe. Donations in Laura's memory can be made to Gilda's Club at http://www.gildasclubdesertcities.org.
